We provide on-site solutions to all your pool pump problems. We guarantee not to start any service job without a solution, so that you are not left without operational filtration equipment.
We get many calls from customers asking, “why is my pump not working correctly?” Below are a few of the more common issues and solutions.
Your Pool Pump didn’t come on today?
It could be a simple fix. Check if the power plug is in correctly. Is there power (try plugging in a hair dryer or similar. Is it the time clock, try switching the time clock to manual. Has the breaker dropped out or the fuse blown. Can you detect any noise at all from the pump. If you can hear slight buzzing sound, means power is getting to the pump. Could be jammed with some debris, seized or shorted motor windings and/or capacitor.
Your Pool Pump is Noisy?
It could be noisy bearings in the motor or something caught in the fan. Vibrating on an uneven surface, not level. Debris caught in the impellor. Fan blade broken.Bearing housing oversize or bearing landing undersize. Pump unable to prime correctly, cannot get enough water. Weir gate in the skimmer box jammed shut or just not enough water in the pool.Too much debris in the skimmer basket at poolside or too much debris in the pump basket. Out of balance pump impellor. Is the pump lid fitting properly, or O-ring missing.
Your Pool Pump, Solar pump or Pool cleaner pump are leaking Water?
That’s DANGEROUS. Switch off the electricity to all the equipment. Where is the water leaking from. From under the pump, probably a mechanical seal, which needs replacing. If its left to leak, only a small leak can lead to the pump running dry or corrosion setting in. If its the pipe connection on the top of the pump it needs fixing before serious damage occurs
You can smell something burning?
Switch Off.Could be overheating. Is there something obstructing the cooling air entering the motor at the rear end. Does the pump cut out then switch on again short time later. Could be overloading or nuisance tripping. Maybe the capacitor failed. Are you operating the pump on an extension lead, this can result in too much voltage drop and cause the pump to overload. Has the pump seized, is it starting. Perhaps there is a loose connection in the terminal box.
Your Pool Pump is not creating enough pressure/suction?
It could be something quite simple. Is the water level in the pool at least half way up the entry of the skimmer box at the poolside. Is the vacuum plate in the skimmer box, is that allowing the pump to draw air in through a vortex. Does the filter need backwashing or the cartridge element cleaning. A dirty filter will stop the pump performing at its peak performance. Check the pump basket and skimmer basket for debris or cracks. Cracks in these baskets can indicate the possible ingress of debris into the pump or suction line. Debris in the pump impellor will prevent the pump from operating correctly. Even a worn mechanical pump seal can suck air and cause problems.

Why is my Pool Water turning Green and/or Cloudy?
Check the chlorinator control panel, is there any measure of chlorine production output? If there is, it may be insufficient to keep the pool water clear or the cell is not getting enough water to cover the cell electrodes. We carry Brand New Replacement Salt Cells for most common brands at competitive prices.
There is very little or no output on my Saltwater chlorinator.
This could be many issues, have you added salt lately? After a lot of rain, or in high summer, evaporation causes the ppm (parts per million) to reduce. The average Salt Chlorinator requires 3-6 thousand PPM (sea water is 35000 PPM). Have you cleaned the salt cell, lots of calcium on the electrodes? We are here to help you. Mobile workshop, On-Site.
Book a service call now to diagnose the problem with your Saltwater Chlorinator.
I continually add bags of salt but still the pool does not look good.
There is definitely something wrong with either your Cynuric acid / Stabilser level or the output of your salt chlorinator. We can do a full water chemistry test On-Site to determine and Repair or Service your Salt Water Chlorinator. We provide a service solution to get you up and running again. A range of new replacement cells and parts are usually in stock. Rest of Chlorinator is good.
I bought a new salt cell but the chlorinator still doesn’t work.
Hopefully you have not been out there and spent a lot of money when you did not need a new cell. Was the old cell tested?Could be a fuse blown in the control box or the PCB failed as well. The Chlorinator control box must be faulty as well, or is the pump running correctly? Is it filling up the salt cell fully? Have you tried backwashing the filter?
We carry new, Australian made, Self Cleaning Salt Water Chlorinators ready to install at competitive prices.
My liquid chlorine dosing system does not work.
Is there chlorine in the drum? Perhaps the non-return valve has failed or the squeeze tube needs replacing. We carry many new parts to fix most brands and models of Liquid Chlorine and PH controllers. Our On –Site Mobile service comes to you, diagnosing, then offering competitive service solutions.

I can’t turn the valve on the tank to backwash.
The older the filter gets the harder it is to turn. It’s worn and probably leaking to waste.
You could try WD40 around the handle/ rotor seal or call me and we may be able to put a new valve on.
Water leaking from the valve itself or from the pipe connections.
These are all maintenance issues. Tighten the fittings to see if that fixes the leak, or call me.
Is the water coming up through the top of the valve, under the handle? If so looks like the rotor seal has failed.
Dirty water coming back to the pool after cleaning.
You must rinse the filter after backwashing for about 30 seconds. This gets rid of any debris left in the filter.
If it’s a cartridge filter you may not have hosed it sufficiently or it’s collapsing.
I have water dripping continually from the waste pipe at the drain.
Very common. Probably spider gasket failed, new ones can be purchased.
Could just be a generally worn valve that might need replacement.
Water is expensive so you need to find a solution which I can provide.
Very high pressure in the filter tank and poor suction.
Try backwashing, then rinsing. See how it operates on re-circulate.
The media in the filter or the cartridge element may need replacing.
I would be happy to help you with that.
That high pressure can cause far more extensive damage, so don’t delay finding the cause.
White cloudy water coming back to pool.
This is usually caused by chlorine residue as a result of using granular chlorine for extended periods.
It’s similar to a fine talcum like substance which stays suspended in the water and is continually re-cycled through the filter because it’s so fine.
Not a huge issue, but will take a lot of time for you to get on top of. Give me a call for some ways around it.
I have what seems like sand forming in a pile on the floor off the pool.
This is not good. May be failure of the laterals in the bottom of the tank.
Many things to consider if this is you.

Bryan asked me to write him a note following our “Christmas Emergency” I am happy to do so because he got our Swimming Pool back running again on Christmas Eve! We had relatives here from overseas, plus all the family coming over the next day. I’d been out in the morning to check the Pool and it hadn’t come on.
Saw my neighbour over the fence, who gave me Bryan’s number from a sticker he had left on their pool equipment. Called him and TWO HOURS later it was fixed! (Capacitor or something like that)
We had just moved into our new home over the weekend, which has a Pool and the kids were desperate to get into it as soon as we moved in. Lo and behold the previous owner hadn’t informed us that the Salt Chlorinator was on its last legs. Bryan told me over the phone to put some liquid chlorine in the pool and a couple of litres of acid. The next morning the pool looked great again he turned up and checked out the chlorinator, and replaced the cell there and then. He also gave me a Pool 101 to bring me up to speed on how everything worked. Fantastic Service. Thanks Bryan
My names Joe and I live in Winston Hills. I would like to recommend to you Bryan from Bryan’s Pool Service. He came out to our place after I found a water leak coming out from under my pool pump. I could not afford to have to buy a new one. He told me how much it was going to cost after he had pulled it apart in the back of his truck. I watched him put a new seal in. Then he re –installed it and gave me a warranty. He’s a good bloke.
It gives my wife and I much pleasure in recommending to you Bryan’s Pool Service. Our Jet Vac Booster Pump was making a terrible noise and I was sure the neighbours were going to complain to the local council about the noise. The chap they sent out removed the pump and stripped it apart. He called me out to the driveway where he was working and showed me the state of disrepair the motor was in, there was so much corrosion. Fortunately he had a brand new Jet Vac Booster Pump in his service vehicle and replaced it for us. Thank you so much. We would not hesitate to use this service in the future.
